Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
A: My name is Michelle Diaz. I am from Brooklyn, New York and I originally got into this business back in 2009. I was actually working at a lawfirm at that time and the woman who sat next to me was an investor, so she sparked my interest. I had no idea what she was doing and she actually said if you go to a real estate school and get your license, I will pay for the school. That's how it all started.
Q: What is your main focus now as an agent?
A: My main focus as an agent definitely is to help as many families as I can. I think it is important to be knowledgeable and courteous and just understand that for most people, this is their largest purchase, their largest financial investment, and they need someone to guide them.
Q: Do you work with investors as well?
A: I do! I actually find that portion of it kind of kind of fun. It's exciting for me, I like going and finding those "nitty gritty dirty" properties and looking for those things. It's exciting to see the vision of what they can do with it, what return they're going to be able to get on it. I enjoy that part of it.
Q: What does success mean to you?
A: For me, success is being able to live on my own terms. I have 4 children, I'm a mom of 4. Being able to spend time with my family and also having a career where I'm helping other families, helping investors and being able to manage my time how I see fit. That to me is success.
Q: Why do you choose Atrium Management as your go-to property management company?
A: For me, it's a couple of reasons. Trust. I know that if I send something to you or anyone here in your office that it's going to be handled professionally. You guys are all knowledgeable in your fields. So I know if I send you something, I don't have to continuously follow up. I know they're going t be handled the way I would treat my clients. It's an extension of my business, so I want to make sure my clients are being treated with respect and professionalism.
Q: What is the number one book that has changed your life?
A: Hands down, it's gotta be Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins. If you like audiobooks like myself, again I'm a busy mom of 4 so I'm constantly in the vehicle, but the audio was amazing because it's a book and it's also a podcast and he stops and breaks down what just happened and it was really worth listening to. Something you can listen to more than once.
